Allan Ray Umbarger

Allan Ray Umbarger, age 70, of Metaline WA., passed away peacefully in his home accompanied by family on Wednesday March 15, 2023.

Allan was born in Newport, WA., to Alvin and Betty Umbarger, Allan had two brothers and three sisters. Allan spent most of his school career in the Metaline area, he attended Lillian Baily Elementary and Selkirk HS. Allan was an accomplished wrestler in HS, he and his fellow teammates going to finals and seeking state honors in 1970.

In Allan’s early years he raced dirt bikes, was hired by the forest service cutting danger trees for hot shot fire fighters, he also fell burning trees and cut helicopter landings during forest fires. Later in life Allan spent nearly 30 years as a logger, he was well respected as a logger and made a lot of friends in the industry. Allan was also a talented cement finisher. In Allan’s spare time he loved to hunt, fish and ice fish he also was a meticulous gunsmith.

Allan is preceded in death by his father Alvin Umbarger, brothers Kenny and Robbie Umbarger and stepmother Mildred Umbarger. Allan is survived by his daughter Heather R Umbarger, his two grandson’s Chance W Hubbart and Lucas R Hubbart, his mother and stepfather Betty and Stu Belling and his siblings Vicki Tigner & husband Paul Tigner, Shannon Umbarger and D’Anne McClellan & husband James McClellan. Allan also had several nieces, nephews, and cousins that he was able to spend time with over the years.

Per Allan’s wishes there will not be a funeral, but donations can be made in Allan’s name to Selkirk Little Guy Wresting, care of Mt West Bank, PO Box 107, Ione WA 99139. Allan’s medical supplies and equipment were donated to a local doctor to be given to others in need. Cards to Allan’s family can be mailed to his daughter at 3711 S Old Schafer Ln.
