Alberta Newspaper Group

Join Colville Together the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 26th, for Shop Small Colville 2022. For the sixth year, Colville Together is hosting an event encouraging our community to shop local. Come down and enjoy downtown Colville and support our local businesses for the Holidays. Stop by Heritage Court, between 10am and 1pm, to collect your Small Business Saturday shopping bags and your passport. Then visit the participating businesses to collect your stamps at the local area businesses. A full passport will enter you to win the grand prize. A collection of prizes donated by participating businesses! This year we will also have local vendors in Heritage Court as well as restaurant specials. Join us for Shop Small Colville 2022 and support our local small businesses. Spending your dollars locally really does help our community. Some of the benefits of spending local are for every $ 100 you spend at locally owned businesses, $ 68 will stay in the community. What happens when you spend that same $ 100 at a national chain? Only $ 43 stays in the community. Local jobs are created, and local business owners know you, and you know them. Studies have shown that local businesses donate to community causes at more than twice the rate of chains. Shopping in a local business district means less infrastructure, less maintenance, and more money available to beautify your community. Also, spending locally instead of online ensures that your sales taxes are reinvested where they belong, in your community. Locally owned businesses pick the items and products they sell based on what they know you like and want. Local businesses carry a wider array of unique products because they buy for their own individual markets. You are their friends and neighbors, and locally owned businesses have a vested interest in knowing how to serve you. They’re passionate about what they do. Creativity and entrepreneurship are what the American economy is founded upon. Nurturing local business ensures a strong community. The more interesting and unique you community, the more we will attract new neighbors, visitors, and guests.
