Low Voter turn out for Stevens County

With a 22.17% voter turn out for the August Primary, and a week left until the count is certified, this is how the contested races in our area are looking. As of the last count on Friday August 5th (according to the Stevens County Auditor website results.vote. wa.gov/ results/ 20220802/ stevens/) out of 34,488 registered voters, 7,645 votes counted and 7000 votes left to count.

For the Assessor race, Rick Johnson leads by a slim margin with 35.07 of the votes, followed by Dewey Simmons; 34.64% and Bryce Stearns following closely with 28.86% of the votes. In the Commissioner District 2 race, Mark Burrows is taking a heavy lead with 72.3% of the votes, followed by Carl Taylor with 15.62%, and then Brandon Harting with 10.74% of the votes. The Coroner race, with only two candidates is running head to head with Lorrie Sampson at 51.32% and Ramona Colvin sitting at 47.43% of the votes. The Prosecuting Attorney race stands with Erika George leading the pack at 36.15% followed by Geoff Kristianson with 28.42%, Ken Tyndal with 20.61% and Nick Force at 13.58%.

The Fire District 07 Emergency Medical Services property tax levy sits at 51.75% voting yes and 48.25% voting no.

The Columbia Precinct Committee Officer Republican; Rick Johnson has 70%, and John Smith has 30%. The Daisy Prcinct Committee Officer Republican; Adam Andrews 24.66% and Tim Barrett with 75.34%.

The Narcisse Precinct Committee Officer Republican; Brandon Harting 29.87% and Jeff Pitts at 70.13%.

The Meyers Falls 1 Precinct Committee Officer Republican; Kathleen Stone 47.62% and Leslie Valz 52.38%.

The Orin 2 Precinct Committee Officer Republican; Scott Peterson 37.04% and Dave Robinson 62.96%.

The next ballot count will take place on August 10, at 12: 00 p.m.
