Little Things Can Make a Big Difference

By Madilynn Richart and Robyn Wright

Kettle Falls High School students participated in Better World Day this year and accomplished so much. In addition to the many places students volunteered around the community, freshman and sophomore classes spent time beautifying the KFHS campus to prepare it for graduation. Students worked together to improve different parts of the school, including painting the curbs, painting the school bathrooms, retouching the Bulldog sign, picking up trash, cleaning out the Dehle memorial, and spreading gravel on the paths around the fields. Students brought about 50 rakes and shovels to help complete the projects both at the high school and Happy Dell park.

Overall, the goal is for students to continue to make the world better little by little. The students who participated in painting jobs mentioned their favorite part about the day was letting their creativity unfold and have their own touch added to the school. These projects give students more ownership and pride in the school and firsthand experience in improving their own community. This creates positivity in our schools and spills over to all of Kettle Falls.

A special thanks to Mike Russell, Byron Richart, Interstate Concrete & Asphalt, True Value, and all the community members who showed support of KFHS students contributing to Better World Day.
